I hate technology

17 05 2009

Yeh, that’s right.  I said it.

We have 4 computers in our apartment, yes 4.   I think I mentioned that my laptop has been out of commission for quite some time now.  It’s in a coma and needs specialized care which we are currently unable to provide.  True story about this situation is at the end of this post.  Just look for the part where I start whining about Dell.

My husband has 3 computers: an old laptop, a desktop, and the laptop provided by his company.  I’d ask for one from my company, but I think you have to work for an actual company, not a nonprofit.  And this is crazy, but nonprofits don’t seem to be handing out laptops as willy-nilly as companies.

Anyway, the old laptop has never really been used — I consider it dead, but WH refuses to admit it.  The desktop was doing wonderfully for both of us.  But now, the desktop is acting like a fool.  That’s the only way I can describe it.  A fool.  It’s not in a coma, it’s not nearly dead, it is sick.  Or maybe it’s on drugs.  That probably makes more sense.

Sadly that fool of a computer is the only place I have my picture download software (except for on my laptop  — I refuse to aknowledge a time of death until we’ve exhausted all possible treatment!).  Since the only working computer is my husband’s WORK laptop, I can’t download my software to the only working computer we own.  I like my software.  It saves pictures and I can edit them.  It’s simple, but I need it.

So the whole point of this sad, sad story of laptops with comas and foolish desktops, is that I can’t post 😦  I have good stuff too!  Barefoot Blogger stuff.  And dinner recipes.  And TOUR recipes!!

I’m distraught and I will remain as such until Dell sends someone to personally revive our beloved 3 (or at least the 2 I believe can still pull through).  Because, yes, they are all Dells.  All of them.

Dell, if you’re out there, think of how sad I am, of how unhappy I am with you.  Think about it.  How would you feel if you called me needing help with, um… well something I could help with and I said, “Sorry I can’t help you, it’s been too long since we met.  You didn’t spend enough money on me.”  Because that’s what you did to me.  I didn’t purchase a warranty long enough to cover this laptop coma and now you won’t even talk to me.  WON’T EVEN TALK TO ME!  It hurts.  It really does.  So just think about it.

And send us a new Dell.  Because, yes, our beloved 3 can be replaced that easily. 0:)

Important Updates

28 04 2009

I’ve had a good run of posts for the past several days and I’m happy about that!  There are a couple more to come this week, but as you will notice, there have been no Tour posts.

I’m not abandoning it at all, but the past month has been very busy for WH and I.  As I mentioned, we have bought a house and it’s moving a long fine, but it does take up some time.  We are planning/shopping for some renovation projects, shopping for a new washer/dryer, preparing for home repairs and keeping the termites from eating our house!

As if our life isn’t hectic enough, we adopted a dog!  We’re really excited about this, but of course this means a lot more of my time and attention being devoted to something other than my blog (the horror!).  As you know, we have a cat and we want to make sure they are introduced properly and get comfortable with each other and that the dog feels safe and secure while both WH and I go to work each day.  We’ll be picking up our new pet later this afternoon and I can’t wait to post pictures!

On a side note, I am having to take a break from Barefoot Bloggers recipes as well.  I’ll try to pick up in May again as well (if they don’t kick me out!).

I hope to pick up the Tour again in May, but Closing on the House may get in the way of that.  I’ll keep you informed.  In the meantime, I’ll continue with my normal recipe posts as I have time.  Thanks for following!

Repeat Cooking

22 03 2009

I’ve been quite absent, haven’t I?  Well, last week I spent most nights making dishes I’ve already blogged about (Stir Fry, Corn Bread Taco Bake, & Mongolian Beef – Thanks Joelen!).  Plus I made some of the March Tour Stop’s recipes that I’m very excited to share.

Be on the look out for the Tour Stop post tomorrow and the recipes soon after!

Hello!  It’s been awhile… I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and happy New Year!  WH and I just returned from our 2 week vacation.  First a week in NC, VA, and MD for some holiday family fun and then a second week in Playa del Carmen, Mexico for our official honeymoon!  We had a great time and really relaxed.  I’ll post a few pictures soon.

Now it’s back to the real world.  We really don’t want to go back to work, but something has to sustain my cooking hobby 😉

I’m welcoming the start of 2009 in so many ways and as promised, we will start our Tour de Food Blogs this month!  The first stop will be coming soon!  Stay tuned for a fabulous food blog adventure!

I’m very excited to present something I have been working on for the past few weeks. The idea came to me before Thanksgiving and I’ve been doing a little here and a little there to develop my thoughts. I now feel like I’m ready to launch it: TOUR de FOOD BLOGS! Please take a look at the page tab at the top (next to Le Inspiration) and follow the information to learn all about my new event. There’s also information on how to participate in the event and I hope you will! If you have questions, please email me at tourdefoodblogs[at]gmail[dot]com.

Coming Soon: Event Avatar Contest!

Where have I been?

13 11 2008

At work.  Yes, I got a job.  It’s DAY 4 of Operation Save for a House. And it’s part time, but geez, it’s tough when you can’t sleep until 11, meet WH for lunch, go to the grocery store, and come home to post wonderful recipes and cat pictures everyday… I miss the unemployed-by-choice life.

It’s really bad timing too because I joined Barefoot Bloggers and of course the first recipe post is due today and I haven’t even made it.  It’s on the menu for tomorrow, but ugh I just started and I’m already behind.

Here’s hoping I get my act together tomorrow…

Just wanted to drop a quick post about some new links to the right.  You can now subscribe to my blog using a feed reader OR if you prefer to get updates via email, you can do that as well.  I actually never see your email as it is through a website.

I hope some of this is helpful to the rest of you.  I actually just figured out how to set up my own reader for many of your wonderful blogs and I have to say it’s really cool (I’m sure most of you know this already!).

Be back later today to post a recipe!
